New features are sexier than making existing code more reliable…

With new technologies and applications, we’re usually wowed by new features and pay more attention to them than to an existing application that’s old but reliable. In my experience, this is too often the focus of software development as well: we concentrate more on adding new features than we do on making existing code more reliable.
